    Basic Character Creation/Statistics Guide

We try to make creating a character in Severed Celestial an easy task, but there are some guidelines and rules that need to be enforced. This is so no character is overly powerful to start, and also so that characters have something to strive for, to achieve. The basic premise is as follows:

    • You start with a certain number of points, which can be put into statistics or abilities.
    • About every 10 levels, you gain a status point, which lets you increase a single statistic.
    • About every 20 levels, you gain an ability point, which lets you improve or learn an ability.
    • Celestial Spirits allow you to improve more quickly, at any time, and beyond the initial limits.

Here, we'll go more in-depth into the statistics that define a character, and what you need to do to make a character. (Note: A turn is defined as one of your character's actions.)

    Basic Information

To start off, we need some basic information about your character. Here's a list of some basic information that's required. Remember, this can be whatever you want; this information doesn't affect your character's abilities. These are also freely editable by you, meaning you don't need to wait for a moderator to fill this out for you. Even so, put it all on your form; don't expect moderators to look at your character sheet when they could just look at your form.

Name: Your character's name. This can be their full name, their first name and surname, or whatever you want. Just remember to put the same thing on this as you do your character sheet - if you want to list their full name here but only their first name on your character sheet, make sure to make note of which name is on the latter!

Age: Your character's age, in years. If, for whatever reason, an age is unable to be listed, write "???" instead, but try to put one.

Gender: Your character's gender. The only options allowed are Male, Female, Genderless, and Undefined. If your character doesn't perfectly fit either male or female, go with what they best fit with, and make note of the difference. If they REALLY don't fit any gender, go with Genderless if they have no gender or Undefined if they have a very strange gender - and list it here.

Race: Your character's race. Nearly any race conceivable is allowed here, though some (Celestials, Gods/Goddesses, etc.) are banned. The Ancient Library should have more information about races too powerful to select.

Description: A description of your character. Any information that doesn't comply perfectly with the other fields (full name, for example) should go here, as well as a detailed description of their appearance. Whatever will help people better understand your character should go here!

Alignment: Your character's moral alignment. The options allowed are Celestial, Heroic, Neutral, Devious, and Demonic, and ranges from pure good to pure evil. Their alignment can change with their actions, so be careful!

Occupation: Your character's job. The occupations allowed in Auspus are Peasant, Blacksmith, Tailor, Alchemist, Healer, Wizard, Merchant, Adventurer, Soldier/Knight, Thief, Assassin, Mercenary, Nobility, Celestial Warrior, Celestial, Slave/Servant, and None. There's more information on the Occupation Guide in The Ancient Library, so check that out. Certain occupations are special, and have to be earned.

Every single one of these is required in your character form, so list them all!

    Specific Information

The rest of the information has to be filled in by a moderator or administrator. It also has limits; you'll need to stay within them.

Health: Your health is how much more damage your character can take before dying. If they're healed by another character in a certain amount of time (about 10 turns), then they'll be able to get back up again; otherwise, they'll die. Very skilled Healers can revive them, as can Celestials and the Celestial Warrior of Life, but chances are the character's death is permanent. The only way to get them back is to perform a Resummoning, which sends them to The Gods' Spire in Esceius with no Gold, Celestial Spirits, or Experience, base stats, and Level 1, as well as no items or equipment (besides their initial items when they were created).

Mana: A representation of the magical energy within a character. Every spell or ability requires a certain amount of mana to use, more depending on the ability's strength. An amount of mana proportional to the character's Focus statistic is recovered every five turns. If a character's mana is completely drained, they'll suffer from the Mana Deficiency debuff, which will lower their regeneration rate and slightly weaken their Strength and Focus. It heals after about 5 turns.

Gold: The amount of money you have. Gold is the currency of the world, and is required for any sort of service. You earn gold by working, defeating enemies, or having it given to you. Different occupations start with different amounts of gold - and a fee is required to change occupations, so don't go thinking that you can just pick the most profitable occupation and then switch immediately!

Celestial Spirits: Legendary orbs of energy that contain the essence of Celestials within them. Celestial Spirits are earned by completing difficult tasks, helping the world, and gaining lots of experience. They can be used to increase statistics or learn/improve abilities more quickly, but their most important application is surpassing the normal limits of ability proficiency.

Experience: How close your character is to leveling up. Initially, 100 experience points are needed to get to Level 2, and then 500 to get to Level 3. Past that, each level requires 500 more experience points to get to. Experience points are earned by doing your job well, defeating enemies, and completing quests - a significant increase in the last one.

Statistics: Your character's physical and magical limits, measured in words. It's too big to go over in a bullet point, so look at the next section for more information.

Abilities: Your character's special abilities, measured in levels - Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Master, Legendary, and Celestial. More information is located past the character form.

Buffs/Debuffs: Your character may learn skills that increase their power, and they may be afflicted with conditions that weaken or hurt them. They will be listed here as they're afflicted, and removed as they wear off.

Inventory: Prior to arriving in Auspus or throughout their adventures, your character may find or own some items. Those are listed here.

The only things required here are Statistics, Abilities, and Inventory.

    Statistics

Each character's ability is measured in several statistics: Level, Strength, Resistance, Intelligence, Focus, Agility, and Charm. Levels are measured numerically, while other stats are measured in words, and each has a different effect on your character.

Level: A numerical representation of your character's growth. Characters start out at Level 1 (except for certain characters, such as Celestials and Celestial Warriors), and every time their experience maxes out, they gain a level. Every ten levels, you get a free status point, which can be used to raise a single stat by one level. Every twenty levels, you get a free ability point, which can be used to upgrade a single ability by one level or to learn a Beginner-level ability.

Strength: A measure of your character's physical power. Strength increases the amount of damage your character can do, as well as the amount they can lift/carry/push outside of battle.

    • Powerless: Your character cannot fight or lift anything.
    • Pathetic: Your character's base attacks do Scratch damage, and they can lift few things heavier than an empty bucket.

    Creating a Character

Now to actually make your character. Here's the form that you should use when creating your character:

    Code:
    [center][b][size=24]Header: Good for your character's name.[/size][/b][/center]
    Name:
    Age:
    Gender:
    Race:
    Description:

      Resistance:
      Intelligence:
      Focus:
      Agility:
      Charm:
    Abilities:
    Inventory:

Now for some information about the character creation itself.

You can put an image in the form, if you want. Nothing fancy here, but again, try to follow the rules.

Again, read the Occupation Guide before selecting an occupation! Some have special conditions, and some are banned. If you pick a banned condition, you'll be rejected and pointed to the guide - don't embarrass yourself!

Statistics are an interesting point to touch on. Each stat, by default, is Average level. You get three free status points, so you can increase a stat by one level. You can put them into any stat, and if you want to improve another stat after using them all, you need to lower another stat by one level. Every BASE Strength and Resistance level (not affected by equipment or Celestial Souls) is worth 50 Health, starting at Powerless; this gives average characters 500 Health. The same applies with Mana and Intelligence/Focus. Note that it's impossible for an average character to have Celestial-level statistics: they must be "unlocked" by a Celestial or Celestial Warrior to gain this level.

Abilities are also another interesting matter. You get three ability points, and they can be put into learning new abilities. Abilities have six levels: Basic, Intermediate, Advanced, Master, Legendary, and Celestial. Each level costs one ability point, so you can have one Advanced ability, one Intermediate and one Basic ability, etc. Basic abilities are average abilities (rudimentary martial arts knowledge, small fireballs, etc.), Intermediate are stronger ones (good martial arts knowledge, medium fireballs), Advanced are powerful ones (extensive martial arts knowledge, large fireballs), Master are incredibly powerful ones (hyperspeed martial arts skills, flaming vortex), and Celestial abilities are the strongest abilities (physical attacks from a distance, 5 mile flame blast). If you don't know what level an ability is, just go with your gut and a moderator will tell you if you're off. Note that the only way to get a Celestial ability is by upgrading an existing ability with Celestial Souls.

Items in your character's inventory have three grades: Common, Rare, and Legendary. The combined value of your character's initial inventory cannot exceed two; that is, they cannot have more than one Rare item or two Common items. Common items include basic equipment (steel sword, basic tome, etc.), while Rare items include rarer artifacts (enchanted sword, advanced tome, etc.). Legendary items are the most powerful artifacts (Celestial Warrior weapons, celestial items, etc.) and can provide statistic bonuses to your character, listed under Equip. Bonus in the Statistics table. Often, however, they also lower a statistic to balance it out. Again, if you don't know what level an ability is, use your better judgement and a moderator will tell you if you're off. Note that Celestial items are very rare and can only be acquired during certain events or from certain characters.

Once you're done, submit your character to the Hall of Heroes and wait for our staff to review them. Once you're approved, you can start playing!
